Robi Botos
Robi Botos is a renowned Hungarian-Canadian jazz pianist based in Toronto. Having been mentored by the great Oscar Peterson, Robi has received numerous awards and accolades throughout his career and worked with numerous artists including Chaka Khan, Al Jarreau, Lisa Fischer, Michael Brecker, Pat Labarbera, Charlie Watts, Branford Marsalis and Richard Bona.
Born in Nyíregyháza, Hungary, Robi Botos grew up in a musical family in Budapest. He began his musical career as a child, playing drums and percussion with his father and two brothers. At age seven, he switched to the piano. Largely self-taught, he has since mastered the instrument and made his mark on the music world.
Robi has recorded and performed with numerous local and international artists including: Chaka Khan, Lisa Fischer, Al Jarreau, Michael Brecker, Pat Labarbera, Charlie Watts, Branford Marsalis, Richard Bona, Marcus Belgrave, Steve Gadd, Terri Lyne Carrington, Vernon Reid, Roberta Gambarini, Darryl Jones, Tim Ries, Peter Appleyard, Molly johnson, Jackie Richardson,Vinnie Colaiuta, Dave Young, Dennis Coffey, James Blood Ulmer, Joey DeFrancesco, Toots Thielemans, Guido Basso and Avishai Cohen.
